Chinese auto company BYD plans to have all-electric sedans in the United States in 2010, according to CNET News.

BYD plans to offer a few hundred of one of its most advanced cars in the U.S., the five-seat e6. The $40,000 vehicle takes seven to nine hours to fully charge.

Initially, “government agencies, utilities and maybe some celebrities” will have the first shot at purchasing the car, company chairman Wang Chuanfu told the Wall Street Journal.
