Celebrating Dance in Illinois was the focus of Arts Alliance Awards 2009, the annual gala of Arts Alliance Illinois, formerly the Illinois Arts Alliance. The event took place Oct. 29 at the Merchandise Mart.
Arts Alliance Illinois honored business executive Pamela B. Strobel with its Arts Advocate Award. Homer Hans Bryant, founder and artistic director of the Chicago Multi-Cultural Dance Center, was presented with the Arts Alliance’s prestigious Arts Legend Award while Dance for Life—which has been raising funds for HIV/AIDS care, prevention and education since 1992 while promoting the art of dance in Chicago and beyond—received special recognition.
