In an act of solidarity, the Chicago Puerto Rican/Latino LGBTQ friends and allies invited the community to a dinner in support of the family of Jorge Steven Lopez Mercado, who was a tragic victim of hate crime in Cayey, Puerto Rico. The event was held at Nellie’s Restaurant Jan. 15. On Nov. 13, 2009, Mercado was decapitated and burned.
