The Arie Crown Theater will stop hosting public entertainment in September as part of an effort to cut costs at McCormick Place, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The civic theater, located at 2301 S. Lake Shore, will still occasionally host a private event linked to a trade show or meeting at the complex. Over the years, patrons have gone to the Arie Crown to see musicians such as Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder and the Beach Boys as well as to see shows such as Tyler Perry’s musicals. Upcoming acts include comedian Mike Epps, the legendary O’Jays singing group; and the all-male Russian choir known as the Turetsky Art Group, according to Arie’s Web site.
