Billy Elliot danced onto the stage at its the grand opening April 11 at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre. Windy City Times was on the red carpet to catch the celebrities as they entered the building such as Oprah Winfrey, the Rev. Jesse Jackson and celebrity chef Rick Bayless. The event had a huge turnout that included Sir Elton John, who wrote the music.

When asked about the development of the show John explained, “There was a learning curve, but I really enjoyed writing for the theater.” He added, “This is a great story. It is about a little boy in a mining town that is completely different from everyone else. Follow your dream and you can be who you want to be.” For more information about tickets visit www.BillyElliotChicago.com.
