Andersonville’s Midsummer Fest kicked off Pride month June 12-13 and stretched from Foster on Clark all the way to Edgewater. The weather this year didn’t stop visitors from enjoying their music, food and drinks. The street festival brought in more people than ever before, with more than 50,000 attending. This was the 45th year for the event with activities for the kids and families. Hamburger Mary’s sponsored a beer garden acoustic stage for the first time, while the center stage on Clark and Berwyn hosted such acts as The Joans and took the crowd to church with gospel group the Deliverance Singers. Food included Andies Restaurant kabobs and chocolate-covered cheesecake on a stick. More information for the gayborhood can be found at www.andersonville.org.
