Chicago—In 2000, Windy City Times established an award to acknowledge the young movers and shakers of the LGBTQ community: the 30 Under 30 Awards. Thirty young activists, journalists, students, HIV/AIDS volunteers and performers each under the age of 30 were honored for their achievements in moving the LGBTQ community forward. Now 10 years later, another 30 will receive their honors Wed., June 23, at Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

This year’s honorees will be recognized for impacting or contributing to the LGBTQ community or mainstream community and include an internationally acclaimed playwright; a groundbreaking attorney who is advancing rights for trans and gender-non-conforming individuals; and personal/professional partners who co-own a unique Ukrainian Village salon.

Windy City Queercast’s Stephen Rader and Nightspots Editor Kirk Williamson will co-host the June 23 event, which the AIDS Foundation of Chicago, Howard Brown Health Center and Chicago House are co-sponsoring.
