Sharon Gless was in town during pride week to launch the DVD and book release for Hannah Free, and also to receive an award from the Lesbian and Gay Police Association-Gay Officers Action League of Chicago during their international conference. Hannah Free is a Chicago-made lesbian feature film which has played in more than 60 cities around the world and is now available in both DVD and book format. See www.hannahfree.com.

The Hannah Free release weekend started with a book launch with writer Claudia Allen and some of the film’s actors at Women and Children First Bookstore June 25. On June 26 at the Palmer House, Gless was joined by cast and crew for the DVD and book celebration. And that night, the police group honored Gless.

Special guest for the weekend was Lambda Legal client Janice Langbehn, who was denied the right to see her partner in a Florida hospital despite having her paperwork in order. Her case inspired President Barack Obama to push for new regulations for access to partners in hospital settings. Photos by Hal Baim
