The Southern Illinois AIDS Walk was held Oct. 16 in Carbondale, Ill., with more than 200 participants. Those who participated raised close to $8,000 for the Southern Illinois AIDS Holiday Project. This project provides groceries, toys, clothes, gift and grocery store gift cards for 150 low-income families impacted by HIV/AIDS in the 19 southernmost counties of Illinois. The goal for the year is to raise $15,000. Groups are needed to help sponsor these families, and donations are still being accepted.
