The initiative known as Hairdressers Against AIDS launched on World AIDS Day, Dec. 1, according to Business Week. The project has hair-care titan L’Oreal joining forces with nonprofit organizations such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The goal is to get the United States’ 500,000-plus hair stylists to educate others about HIV/AIDS. A press conference in New York City drew celebrities such as TV personality Carson Kressley, entertainer Sheryl Lee Ralph and City Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn.
