In Indiana, the Monroe County Board of Commissioners has unanimously approved a local human-rights ordinance to ensure non-discrimination for all county residents, according to an Indiana Equality press release.

The ordinance protects against discrimination in employment, housing, education and public accommodations on the bases of race, religion, color, sex, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, disability and gender identity or expression.

With this change, Monroe County joins Bloomington, Indianapolis and West Lafayette in rejecting discrimination based on both gender identity/expression and sexual orientation. Four other Indiana cities—Michigan City, Fort Wayne, Tippecanoe and Lafayette—include sexual orientation in their laws.
