Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn will sign the historic civil-unions bill Monday, Jan. 31, according to state Rep. Greg Harris.
Harris announced the ceremony’s date on his Facebook page. He posted, “Save The Date—->Governor Pat Quinn will sign the Civil Union Law on Monday, January 31. The signing ceremony will be in the afternoon in the Chicago Loop, and open to the public.”
According to ChicagoPride, the event will reportedly take place at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington, at 4 p.m.
The state House passed the Illinois Religious Freedom Protection and Civil Union Act Nov. 30, 2010, with the Illinois Senate following suit the next day.
