She won the Out Music Award in 2009 for her collaboration with Blair Hansen on the Hannah Free soundtrack and, now, Vicci Martinez is proving that she can “Break Away” and steal America’s heart as well.
Vicci Martinez has just announced that she will be auditioning for NBC’s new show called The Voice. The new top-talent show debuts Tuesday, April 26th 9/8C. The Voice has some heavy-hitters in its subtitle. Joining the production team are well-known musical artists Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton, and Adam Levine. Former Total Request Live pop culture icon Carson Daly will host.
For a little background, Vicci won the regional tryouts for the first season of American Idol, but declined the invite to the second round citing creative differences. She felt the outline of the show was too restrictive. She later appeared on CBS’s 2003 season of Star Search. Since then, Vicci has been touring and making a name for herself in all four corners of the U.S.
According to her official website, Vicci has opened for, or shared the stage with, Sting, Annie Lennox, Bill Frisell, Christopher Cross, Supersuckers, Jonny Lang, The Presidents of the United States of America, Cherry Poppin Daddies, and Avril Lavigne.
