The Chicago chapter of American Veterans for Equal Rights (AVER) held its 15th-anniversary Flag Day celebration—a BBQ and beer bust—at the Lake View nightspot Buck’s June 11. The Beer Bust and BBQ is one of two fundraisers AVER has each year; the other is the annual Veteran’s Day Dinner at Ann Sather’s on Nov. 11. AVER uses the money they raise to continue their fight for equal rights for all service members and to support veterans. Text and photos by Tim Carroll
