Eva is new to the music scene but is already making a big splash with dance songs such as “Not My Daddy” and “Fashion Show.” Get to know more about Eva in this exclusive interview.

Nightspots Magazine: Hi, Eva. Did you survive New York’s Pride?

Eva: Yes, it was a lot of fun! I was exhausted. I slept most of the day on Sunday.

NM: Did you perform at clubs there?

E: I performed at two in New York then in Philadelphia.

NM: Everyone has been talking about the passing of gay marriage in New York.

E: Yeah, it happened while we were there. It was really cool.

NM: How is your “life like a Fashion Show?”

E: [laughs] Especially in the more recent years I have gotten into clothes and designers. I don’t necessarily get a lot of it but I am more knowledgeable of new designers. I try to save up and get some nice stuff. Being in LA, I am used to being around it more. It is part of your lifestyle here.

NM: I like shopping at Melrose and the stores there.

E: I love Melrose.

NM: You have worked with amazing artists already like Lupe Fiasco, Snoop Dogg, and Scott Storch. How did you get connected with these guys?

E: Through the label in the music industry and contacts from people who know them. It is all about knowing people.

NM: What was it like working with Snoop Dogg?

E: It is so cool to say I have worked with such a legendary guy. He is super nice and very into what he was doing. He gave me advice and helped me a lot. He was a lot of fun.

NM: You have a new single “Ashes,” with a video of your tour. Did you play Ring Around the Rosie when you were a kid?

E: Of course.

NM: Did you know that song is actually about the Black Plague?

E: Yes, I even said that but I didn’t write the song. The producers came up with that one. It is a good song and catchy. People seem to like it.

NM: Did you take dance classes to learn your moves?

E: I did take dance classes but I’m not a professional dancer. I was a cheerleader as a kid so I have that background. Since I have been in LA I have been dancing a lot. Shane Sparks is my choreographer for my shows. He pushes me a lot, which is nice because it makes me better. I have such great backup dancers. They help me out a lot. I am not getting to that point where I can call myself a dancer.

NM: I heard your dancers are hot. Where is Shane from?

E: He is from So You Think You Can Dance? and America’s Best Dance Crew. He’s awesome.

NM: What is your song “Not My Daddy” about?

E: It’s a fun song that Ke$ha wrote. It is a girl power song telling the guy “you are not my daddy. I will do what I want and don’t tell me what to do.”

NM: She keeps writing for people like Britney. Are you going to make a full-length album?

E: I hopefully have recorded plenty of songs to make an album. It is just about timing at this point. We are waiting for the singles to hit first. I want to get my name out there a little more and come out with the album.

NM: Is this your first time in Chicago?

E: Yes, this is my first time and I am so excited!
