Pride Law—Chicago’s legal aid clinic and resource center that is focused on the needs of the LGBT community—will have a fundraiser at Marty’s Tavern, 1511 W. Balmoral, 2-5 p.m., on Sunday, July 31.

Betty Tsamis, a Chicago lawyer and the founder of the Tsamis Law Firm, 1509 W. Berwyn, established Pride Law. Tsamis and the firm have represented the LGBT community in numerous legal areas for a number of years.

PRIDE LAW will officially open its doors Wed., Aug. 10. Services will include consultation and advice; help with contracts and LGBT-discrimination matters; assistance with forms; and referrals. Clinic appointments will be every Wednesday at 5-8 p.m.

“Our mission is to provide a place where LGBT people can feel safe and secure having their legal interests represented, regardless of their ability to pay,” said Tsamis in a statement. “We do not seek to take away from any of the wonderful organizations that represent the legal interests of LGBT people. We simply seek to supplement what is already available and want to provide a legal aid clinic in the Andersonville community, where so many members of the LGBT community live, work, play, and visit.”
