Occupy Atlanta protesters convinced Chase Bank to save lesbian Iraq War vet Brigitte Walker’s Riverdale, Ga., home, according to SheWired.com.

The protesters started camping out at Walker’s home Dec. 6; a week later, discussions with the bank took place. Chase eventually agreed to modify the mortgage on Walker’s home, where she lives with her girlfriend and her two children.

According to a press release, Walker is a decorated staff sergeant who served in the U.S. Army for more than two decades and was deployed all over the world, including in Bosnia, Korea, Egypt and Kuwait. In 2004, she suffered spinal injuries while serving in the first wave in Iraq, and was medically retired from the military in 2007, substantially reducing her income.

“I feel a lot of stress is off me now. I feel like now we can celebrate the holidays,” Walker said.
