Misty Deberry emceed the event, which featured an art exhibit and raffle, spoken-word performances, live music and dance by AfriCaribe and Las BomPleneras, and rounded out with the dance floor hopping to DJ Gloria.
All of the proceeds will go to purchasing supplies and obtaining spaces for the free workshops LDP provides for all women of color, from those who have little or no writing experience to accomplished poets or writers. LDP strives to develop more arts-based opportunities for women and provides a safe space for self-expression through spoken-word, painting, writing, art, poetry and other creative avenues.
