Music Box Theatre hosted the Chicago premiere of Scrooge & Marley Nov. 29, with a red carpet of cast and crew. Hundreds of people packed the theater for the opening night of a one-week run, which goes through Dec. 6. The film also plays at the Gene Siskel Film Center Dec. 21, 22 and 27.

The film is a gay adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

The Chicago-made independent film stars David Pevsner, former Saturday Night Live star Tim Kazurinsky, Rusty Schwimmer, Bruce Vilanch, Megan Cavanagh, Ronnie Kroell, David Moretti, Becca Kaufman, Fawzia Mirza, Richard Ganoung, Drew Anderson, Nicholas Bailey, Christopher Allen, Peter Mohawk, Amy Matheny, and a host of Chicago actors. It was directed by Richard Knight, Jr. and Peter Neville, and written by Ellen Stoneking, Knight and the late Timothy Imse. It is narrated by Tony award-winning actress Judith Light.

It was produced by Windy City Times Publisher Tracy Baim and David Strzepek of Total Promotions.

It is now available on DVD and soundtrack on Amazon and at Women & Children First Bookstore in Chicago, and the Blu-ray will be out next week. For details on screenings across the country, see www.scroogeandmarleymovie.com.
