To mark World AIDS Day, AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC) held its annual World of Chocolate Nov. 29 at the Hilton Chicago.

Dozens of chocolatiers, restaurants and caterers—including Terry’s Toffee, Just Like U Like It Catering (which offered chocolate shrimp-and-grits), tesori and The Peninsula Hotel Chicago (which had a Las Vegas-themed set-up)—offered their wares.

AFC emailed Windy City Times Dec. 3 that it was still calculating numbers but the event was projected to net $100,000, and that 1,200 people attended.

Contest winners included:

—Best Sweet Sample: Terry’s Toffee

—Best Savory Sample: Just Like U Like It Catering

—Best Business Class I (small): La Parisianne du Chocolat

—Best Business Class II (large): The Peninsula Hotel Chicago

—People’s Choice Award: Kendall College of Culinary Arts
