The Chicago History Museum’s annual “Out at CHM” series will kick off with “50 Shades of Blues” Thursday, Jan. 31, at the museum, 1601 N. Clark St.

Through conversation and live performance, Sharon Bridgforth and Dr. Omi Osun Joni L. Jones will discuss how blues expressed taboos and called for greater freedoms during the 1920s and ’30s.

There will be a cocktail reception at 5:30 p.m. The program will start at 7 p.m.
