Windy City Gay Idol has started with an audible bang this year, with two smash successes at both The Sofo Tap and Hideaway. I lobbied to add the Hideaway date as I felt that the suburban bars needed the love. I was shocked at how many folks had never been “out there” and I was glad to usher them into the outskirts.
The skirts went further out after the show at Hideaway, as I, hostess Sofia Saffire, and friends headed down to Forest View Lounge. This place must be seen to be believed. Ping-pong, Andy Capp’s Hot Fries, endless shots and a cat. It’s an off-the-beaten-path hoot. But bring your designated driver. Cops will stalk you from the adjacent parking lot. And watch for trains.
