Are you a fan of charity, community, and vodka? Of course you are, you’re reading Nightspots. Take your fandom over to Jessica at Crew and have her clue you in on Halsted Vodka. A Chicago brand, Halsted Vodka gives 15% of its profits to local LGBT charities. You know all that cash you fork over at the bar? Time to put it to work. Ask Jessica and she’ll tell you much more about the brand and all the work they do in our community. And tip your bartender.

Occasionally it occurs to me how fuuuuuucking awesome my job is. Case in point: I got to judge yet another annual installment of Leather Eye For the Preppy Guy at Touche. In the most heated judges’ deliberation of the contest’s 8-or-9-year history, we finally settled on “Big Red” here, and he did not disappoint. As we took him next door to 64TEN Leather for his $500 leather redo, he could not stop gushing pure excitement and glee at having won. His mirth was absolutely infectious and I was proud to be part of a thing that could bring so much happiness. Prouder, still, I am to have helped Lori Cannon (the original Big Red) raise $500 for Vital Bridges’ Groceryland Pantry. And I got to take an exhaustive reel of photos of a half-to-three-quarters naked ginger hottie. This is why I do what I do 🙂
