A Chicago man is facing felony hate crime charges after an anti-gay attack on two women in the South Austin neighborhood, according to police.
Terry Glover, 24, has been charged with two counts of felony hate crime and two counts of felony robbery after he and a group allegedly beat two women while yelling anti-gay slurs July 7.
The alleged attack occurred at approximately 11:55 p.m. on the 0-100 block of North Leclaire, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada. The women, ages 24 and 25 were beaten and robbed, Estrada said.
The Chicago Tribune reported that the women knew their attacker from the neighborhood, that he followed and taunted them with anti-gay slurs before attacking them. According to the Tribune, multiple attackers joined in when the women fought back, only breaking up when someone reported the police were on the way.
