Day-um!

Oh, you want context? Well, here goes. It’s been such an amazing time in Chicago’s LGBT community these past two weeks, and the bar scene has both echoed and amplified all the excitement. It’s a great time to be gay in Chicago!

Firstly, let’s all get married … ‘cuz we can! Well, not until 6/1/14, but you better start the planning. An impromptu celebration cropped up Tues., Nov. 5, at Sidetrack (where else?) where the community gathered to toast our new and long-overdue equal rights. Many glasses were clinked and I can only guess a few rings were put on things people liked, to torture a Beyoncé metaphor. What the hell, it’s a celebration!

Barlesque 6: Pajama Party!, TPAN’s yearly stripathon, has gotten off to a rollicking start, thanks to the 17 hot contestants and the staff and management of minibar, who helped upwards of $3000 come in on the very first day. See the spread on pages 20-21 for stimulating visuals and more info on the competition, including individual fundraising events, the “Final Tease” on Mon., Nov. 25, and directions to donate at www.barlesque.org. Full disclosure: I am a proud committee member of this year’s Barlesque. Makes sense, given this whole bar thing I do.

Chicago also welcomed the boys and girls of Mister International Rubber this past week. Rubba rubba!

And Halloween. And Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus. And Berlin’s and Touche’s anniversaries … . Just read the magazine.
