The Oak Park Area Lesbian and Gay Association (OPALGA) is sponsoring scholarships for graduating high school students who have shown service, activism and an understanding of the LGBTQ community, and continuing education students who are planning to work with the LGBTQ community and its issues.

The application deadline is April 1.

The program is designed to provide financial support for the continuing education of LGBTQ students, children of LGBT parents or allies of the LGBTQ community.

The 2014 scholarship amounts are $2,000 and are paid directly to the post-secondary education institution. All types of post-secondary education can be supported by these scholarships, including community colleges and trade schools.
