Mayor Rahm Emanuel proclaims April to be Fair Housing Month in the City of Chicago.
On April 11, 1968, then President Johnson signed into law the Civil Rights Act of 1968, expanding on the Civil Rights Act of 1964, to include prohibitions regarding the sale, rental, and financing of housing based on race, religion, national origin, sex (and as amended) disability and family status.
