The Chicago Alternative Comics Expo (CAKE) returned May 31-June 1, with than 200 local, national and international exhibitors at Center on Halsted, at 3656 N. Halsted St.
Free and open to the public, CAKE celebrates the diverse community of underground and alternative comic artists, publishers and fans in Chicago. Comics, prints and artwork were available for purchase.
Among the many items of LGBT interest were the works of Chad Sell, including RuPaul’s Drag Race prints; books by Tony Breed, including Hitched; and Jen Tong’s Pink Lemonade & Find My Light, which she said incorporates an LGBT-themed romance.
Center on Halsted, Quimby’s, The Book Cellar, Utrecht Art Supplies, First Aid Comics and PrintNinja were among the many sponsors.
