Navy veteran Michele Parisi was found dead in her room on the morning of Thursday Nov. 6, according to friends.
Parisi joined the American Veterans for Equal Rights (at the time named Gay Lesbian Bisexual Veterans of America), in 1992. In 1997 she was elected chapter vice president for one year. Michele has been a faithful member attending nearly every meeting and event for the last 22 years. She was honored with the chapter’s Happy Warrior Award on Veterans Day in 2002.
She served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1969 on the USS Paricutin in the Mekong Delta in Vietnam.
Parisi was born Nov. 6, 1946 and was 68 years old when she passed on.
There will be a memorial service for her on Saturday Nov. 15 at 4 p.m. at her church, Lincoln Park Presbyterian, 600 W. Fullerton. 773-249-8288.
