Jan. 10 YEPP show to feature Crys Matthews
On Friday, Jan. 10, the Unitarian Church of Evanston, 1330 Ridge Ave., will host singer songwriter Crys Matthews in a concert to benefit the Youth Empowerment Performance Project (YEPP).
Matthews’ music blends American, folk, funk, blues and jazz, with influences ranging from Otis Redding to Ani DiFranco, according to a press release. She has penned three full-length albums and has already began working on a fourth.
YEPP will perform at 7:15 p.m., Matthews at 8 p.m.

SWOP anti-violence event Dec. 17
Sex Workers Outreach Project (SWOP) Chicago will present an event to mark the International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers on Wed., Dec. 17, 7-9:30 p.m., at Jane Addams Hull-House, 800 S. Halsted St.
There will be art, food, music, performances and a candlelight vigil. A march will precede the vigil, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the north entrance of Harold Washington Library, 400 S. State St. Visit www.swop-chicago.org.
