Matthew Phillips Doeseckle died Dec. 23, 2014, at the age of 33.
He is survived by his partner, Craig Jones of Montgomery, Illinois; his mother, Sharon Lehman Doeseckle of Naperville, Illinois; his father, Robert Doeseckle of Honolulu, Hawaii; and a plethora of family and friends.
Doeseckle was born Oct. 29, 1981 and grew up in Lisle, Illinois, graduating from the Lisle High School, where he was a member of the band and an honor student. In these years, water sports and snow skiing at the family home on Lake Geneva were a big part of his life.
He graduated with honors from Southern Illinois University in May 2005 with a B.S. in psychology. Upon graduation, he worked for the Association for Individual Development (AID) as a crisis interventionist in the ER at both Mercy Center and Copley Hospitals. He also graduated summa cum laude with a masters in counseling from National-Lewis University in June 2014.
Doeseckle joined Family Counseling Services of Aurora in February 2014, working with families and groups with a specialization in addictions.
A visitation and celebration of life were held at the New England Congregational Church, 406 W. Galena Blvd., Aurora, on Jan. 31. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New England Congregational Church.
