The multi-use lobby expansion will serve as a space for audiences and an opportunity to program additional special events and film discussions. The hope is that the lounge—which serves espresso drinks, wine, beer, and a full bar of specialty cocktails—will also be a gathering space for the neighborhood as well as a hotspot for the Chicago Film Communities.
The lounge is furnished with two large leather sofas, coffee table, vintage chairs, leather chairs paired with a backgammon table and a stand up piano. There is also a beautiful large wood table with a bookshelf behind it stacked with board games.
The new concession stand replaces an old favorite from the early 1990s. The new concession stand which looks like it was always there, was built to move people through quickly while offering an array of items from popcorn (still the same recipe and the use of real butter!) to soda to candy. Patrons can purchase espresso drinks, wine, beer and specialty cocktails at the concession stand as well.
The only downside to the new lounge and new concession stand is that people may get a little too comfortable and forget that they are there to see a show.
