The ninth annual Chicago Dancing Festival will take place Aug. 25-29 at various downtown Chicago venues.

With choreographer Lar Lubovitch and Chicago dancer Jay Franke co-producing, the event aims to bring together leading ballet, modern and contemporary dancers from Chicago and across the country to present the largest dance festival in the nation.

The event will mark the festival debuts of companies such as the Miami City Ballet and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, as well as the return of Martha Graham Dance Company, Lar Lubovitch Dance Company, Pam Tanowitz Dance, Joffrey Ballet and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, among others.

Also, for the first time, an entire evening will be devoted to “Modern Women,” featuring works created by female choreographers from across the nation.
