Hordes of comic-book, sci-fi and pop-culture enthusiasts were present in Rosemont, Illinois, as Wizard World Chicago Comic Con took place Aug. 20-23 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center.
Among the stars who appeared were two-time Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner, Nathan Fillion (TV’s Castle and Serenity), Ben McKenzie (TV’s Gotham), Burt Reynolds, Stephen Amell (TV’s Arrow), Adrienne Barbeau, Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy; TV’s The Walking Dead), Sean Patrick Flannery (Boondock Saints) and Norman Reedus (Boondock Saints; TV’s The Walking Dead).
However, aside from the celebrities, the convention had much more to offer, including interactive opportunities (such as a zombie shoot-’em-up), tattoo stands, the artists’ exhibits, and vendors peddling everything from T-shirts to comic weapons to, naturally, comic books.
Wizard World Comic Con rolls along, with future stops at San Jose, California (Sept. 4-6), Pittsburgh (Sept. 11-13), Columbus, Ohio (Sept. 18-20), Nashville (Sept. 25-27) and Fort Lauderdale, Florida (Oct. 2-4). See WizardWorld.com.
