A Goshen, Indiana, city council candidate, who was outed when news of his online dating account leaked out in October, says that he still is against adding LGBT persons to the city’s civil rights ordinance, reported (Terre Haute) Tribune Star on Oct. 25.

GOP candidate Brent Randall, who is running for the District 5 city council seat, confirmed that an online profile, reported by Goshen News the week of Oct. 19, on the website Adam4Adam did indeed belong to him. Officials from both the local Republican and Democratic parties both said that the news should not affect Randall’s bid for office.

“He is the same person today as he was yesterday and is the right person to serve on City Council representing District 5,” said Goshen Republican mayoral candidate Mary Cripe Oct. 23.

But Randall said that he still would not support a local ordinance offering anti-discrimination protections for members of the LGBT community. He told Goshen News on Oct. 21 that, “I still believe in my heart of hearts that our gay and lesbian communities are protected currently under the law.”
