The Civil Marriage Collaborative (CMC) released a publication entitled “Hearts & Minds: The untold story of how philanthropy and the Civil Marriage Collaborative helped Americans embrace marriage equality.”
The report includes a marriage-equality timeline as well as explantions of developments such as the “10/10/20” strategy; then-San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom ordering the city to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples in 2004; and, of course, the U.S. Supreme Court instituting marriage equality across the land in 2015. It also includes the role CMC, a social-justice organization, played in having marriage equality established; and lessons that funders should consider.
