The GLBT Historical Society marked the 60th anniversary of the Daughters of Bilitis—the first lesbian organization in the United States—with a reception at the GLBT History Museum on Dec. 13.
The guest of honor was Phyllis Lyon, 91—the one surviving co-founder. The complete papers of Lyon and her late partner, Del Martin (1921—2008), are preserved in the GLBT Historical Society’s archives. The office records of the Daughters of Bilitis are included in the collection.
