Dr. Brent E. Smith, 55, of Bolingbrook, passed away at his home Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016.
Brent was born June 16, 1961, the son of Richard and Bessie Louise (Miller) Smith in Carthage, Illinois. He attended Carthage High School graduating in 1979. He then went on to graduate from Illinois Wesleyan College in 1983 and was a member of Sigma Pi. He then went on to receive his medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and practiced internal medicine for over 20 years. He was currently the Vice President Clinical Integration Chief Medical Officer at Edward Hospital.
Brent is survived by his husband, Paul Moffett, of San Francisco; parents, Richard and Bessie Louise Smith of Carthage; and his sister, Jeana (Miles) Schroder of Danville, Iowa; a niece and a nephew, Elizabeth and Anthony Schroder.
Funeral services will be held at Saturday, January 7, 2017, 3 p.m., First Christian Church in Carthage. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until time of services at the church. Memorials may be directed to Illinois Wesleyan College or Pilots N Paws, 4651 Howe Road, Landrum, S.C. 29356. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
