In an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) match held Dec. 30 in Las Vegas, women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes defeated well-known fighter Ronda Rousey just 48 seconds into the contest.
Nunes, who’s Brazilian, is an out lesbian. She has been dating Nina Ansaroff, a fighter who competes in the strawweight division, for four years.
It was the second consecutive defeat for Rousey, the UFC’s once-great hope and the sport’s all-dominating athlete who lost to Holly Holm in November 2015. The match against Nunes was seen as Rousey’s comeback attempt.
On Ellen DeGeneres’ show in November, Rousey (a past Olympic bronze medalist) hinted that retirement may not be that far away.
“Forget about Ronda Rousey,” Nunes said, according to CNN. “Now she’s going to retire and go do movies.”
