CHICAGO (April 10, 2017): In its third and largest year to date, the annual Andersonville Flower Show returns to the district this month to welcome the spring season in a uniquely-Andersonville fashion.

Conceived by the owners of Mercantile M in 2015 as an event for the home décor, furniture, and vintage shops in the neighborhood to showcase their spring merchandise, the event has now attracted 28 Andersonville businesses, plus additional collaborators, ranging from retailers and restaurants, to hospitality and service organizations.

“This isn’t your typical ‘Flower Show’ showcasing only live plants,” said the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce. “We have businesses taking the concept and coming up with wonderfully creative ideas for spring window displays, shop takeovers, floral-themed food, and interactive workshops.”

Women & Children First will feature a “Bread and Roses” theme centered around the political slogan taken from a famous speech by Rose Schneiderman; The Guesthouse Hotel will collaborate with Lincoln Square florist, A Pretty Flower to set-up a pop-up fresh floral shop in their lobby, and urban garden designer Tonya Klee will give demonstrations on planting container gardens; Vincent Restaurant’s menu will feature floral cocktails and edible flowers; and Foursided will host former Andersonville favorite Marguerite Gardens for a pop-up in the front of the shop.

The Flower Show weekend also coincides with the start of Andersonville’s Everything But the House online fundraiser to “raise” the Swedish American Museum’s water tower back to its perch. The sale will remain open for seven days on EBTH.com.
