Center on Halsted, among other LGBT-rights advocates, have called on individuals to register public comments on the upcoming National Survey of Older Americans Act Participants (NSOAAP). The deadline for comments is May 12, 2017.
Issues with the new version of NSOAAP came to the fore in March, when a Federal Register notice indicated that questions pertaining to LGBT seniors would be eliminated in the next survey. That omission means that LGBT seniors would not be counted when the government measures how taxpayer dollars are spent on services for older Americans. The government allocates nearly $2 billion to such services.
The Center and other organizations are encouraging stakeholders and other community members to register public comments in order to make their concern known.
