Ron Huberman—an openly gay man who, at times, headed both Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago Transit Authority, and worked in several other official capacities for the city during the Richard M. Daley administration—has been named to the board of Pinnacle, a gaming company that runs casino properties mostly in the Midwest and South.
Pinnacle Board Chair Anthony Sanfilippo said in a May 2 statement, “We … welcome Ron Huberman as a newly elected member of the Pinnacle Board, who, with his extensive experience in the public and private sectors, provides significant insight and expertise in technology, management, operations and government relations.”
The company appointed Huberman to its board in March. He also serves as a trustee of Rush University Medical Center.
Huberman is currently a senior advisor with PeopleAdmin, a firm specializing in K-12 teacher placement. In May 2016, PeopleAdmin acquired TeacherMatch, of which Huberman was founder and CEO.
Among Huberman’s posts when he worked for the City of Chicago were the chief of staff to Mayor Richard M. Daley; executive director of the City of Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications; and various roles at the Chicago Police Department. Huberman announced he would step down from CPS post shortly after Daley announced that he would not be seeking re-election. He also worked for the equity-capital firm Prairie Capital during 2011-2016.
