Pastor Megan Jane Jones

Pastor Megan Jane Jones, 49; born in Pontiac, MI, raised in Kenosha, WI and Brandon, FL; co-director of the Naming Project, whose mission is to create places of safety for youth of all sexual orientations and gender identities where faith is shared and healthy life-giving community is modeled; passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in her sleep, Sept. 19, 2017.

After earning her B.S. in political science from University of South Florida, Tampa and her M.Div. from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio, Megan served at Georgia Tech’s Lutheran Campus Ministry and then at Chicago’s South Loop Campus Ministry. She just left Chicago’s Christ the Mediator Church after three years to accept the call to serve Trinity Lutheran Church in Warrenville, IL. Her induction was scheduled for October 1, 2017.

Cherished youngest daughter of the late Arthur Parry Jones, Sr. and Carol Edna Jones (nee Pierce); beloved baby sister of Susan (Rick) Zuker, Tom Jones, Joyce (Steve) Olson, and Arthur “Parry” (Sherri) Jones, Jr.; devoted aunt (“Nana”) of Daniel and Cory Mitchell, T. Parry and Parker Jones, Anna and Kelly Olson, Amy Jones, and Allison (Jeff) Onuschak; great-aunt of Samantha and Scarlett Onuschak. Faithful companion of her springer spaniels Emily, Fred, and the late Cody.

Memorial services Monday, Sept. 25, 10:30am, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1218 W. Addison St, Chicago, 773-248-1233 and also in Atlanta at a later date.
