The Joffrey Ballet will launch its 2017-18 season with the Chicago premiere of Lola de Avila’s Giselle at the Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. Congress Pkwy.
De Avila, former associate director of the San Francisco Ballet School, has adapted the classic story of madness and sacrifice made from love, set to prolific 19th-century composer Adolphe Adam’s original score created for the ballet’s premiere in 1841. The two-act ballet is presented in 10 performances through Oct. 29.
