Approximately 80 people attended Point’s 2018 Chicago Cornerstone Society Reception at Salero restaurant on March 8.

Point board members Alexia Ward and Pete Subkoviak (also an alum) welcomed everyone and host committee member Kenn Plebanek spoke to his connection with Point and his experience as a scholarship application reader. (Point received 2,100 applications for scholarships this year and relied on 120 volunteer readers.)

Also addressing the attendees were Community College Scholarship Recipient Sergio Tundo (who is taking part in Harry S. Truman College’s pre-nursing program) who spoke about how Point enables them to pursue their goal of serving LGBTQ communities through inclusive healthcare. Point Scholar Donna Scaffidi spoke to her experiences leading up to law school, and how Point provides her with a mentor and network of LGBTQ people who make her believe her dream of becoming a judge is possible.

Point Foundation is the nation’s largest provider of higher education scholarships to LGBTQ students.
