No Fats, No Fems, No Asians, Unpacking the Asian American Dating Experience in the Modern World
Chicago, IL – Actor, creator, and producer Lee Doud will talk at the University of Illinois at Chicago in partnership with the UIC Asian American Resource and Cultural Center. Lee has starred in the movie “KTown Cowboys” and has appeared on the TV shows “Last Man Standing”, “Dark/Web”, “House of Lies” and “Californication”. Most notably, Lee can be seen as Jeff Tan in the Dekkoo original series “I’m Fine”, which was nominated for a Queertie Award in 2018. As a producer, Lee worked on the short film “Another Stupid Day” and produced the feature film “The Amateur.” Recently, Lee wrote a commentary for The Advocate about his experiences with anti-Asian sentiments on gay dating and hook-up apps and the impact on the gay community.
Lee’s talk at UIC will focus on his experiences in Hollywood as an Asian American, examine historical influences on Asian-ness, and unpack the modern Asian American dating experience. A Q&A will follow.
