Brian Patrick Donegan

Brian Patrick Donegan—a U.S. Air Force veteran and much-loved dog-walker and house sitter who was a native of Algonquin—passed away Feb. 2. He was 59.

Brian served in the Air Force from 1977 to 1997 in a number of duty stations around the world. He had a number of employment positions after his military service, but his dog-walking/house-sitting business was his favorite.

Besides serving as an active board member for AVER (American Veterans for Equal Rights) for several years, he was involved with Chicago Frontrunners and AGLOChicago at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.

He was preceded in death by partner Stephen R. Mornar and parents William John Donegan and Eleanore Patricia Donegan (nee Giblin).

Brian was also the beloved brother of Maureen (John) Morrissey, Joan (Chuck) Lewandowski, Michael Donegan, Margaret Mary Harste and the late Bill Donegan; a fond uncle of eight; and a faithful companion of his three dogs: Stevie (“Big Steve”), Finn and Drew.

Memorial mass Saturday, March 16, 11am, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 708 W. Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60657.
