ALMA and the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance are inviting the public to join them in commemorating the Latinx contributions to the 50 years of activism since Stonewall.
The exhibition La Primera Parada (The First Parade): Chicago Stonewall Moments explores the impact of Stonewall in Chicago’s LGBTQ communities of color. La Primera Parada recounts the events and anecdotes of the first group of gays and lesbians who demanded space in their community parades to proudly walk in the Bud Billiken, Mexican and Puerto Rican parades.
It will run through May 29, 2020.
The free opening reception of the exhibition will take place Saturday, Sept. 21, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the alliance’s home, 3000 N Elbridge Ave. See http://PRAAChicago.org/our-programs/el-archivo/.
