On Nov. 22-24, a national human-rights organization is set to relaunch at a conference featuring Dr. Angela Davis.
The Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (CAARPR) has called together more than 120 organizations from across the country who will assemble at the Chicago Teachers Union Hall to re-found the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression—originally formed in 1973 as part of the movement to free Davis and all political prisoners.
The national group is described as a “Black-led, left-led, intergenerational, national movement dedicated to fighting racism, police crimes and mass incarceration,” according to a press release.
Davis will kick off the multi-day conference with a public Rally on Human Rights on Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. Frank Chapman, a former political prisoner and field organizer of CAARPR, is among the others slated to speak.
