Tatyana Moaton, a former U.S. Army intelligence analyst, was keynote speaker at the The American Veterans for Equal Rights (AVER) Chicago Chapter’s 27th annual LGBTQ Veterans Day Dinner held at Ann Sathers on Belmont. Moaton was formerly with Howard Brown Center. She is now Senior Capacity Building Specialist at San Francisco Community Health Center. She spoke of her time in the military and her advocacy work as an openly transgender veteran
Heather Yang, president of The American Veterans for Equal Rights (AVER) Chicago Chapter and Ben Sauceda, treasurer and Vice President, welcomed the group and kicked off the evening.
The Happy Warrior Award was presented to Moaton by Yang and Sauceda. The evening closed with all standing for a performance of America the Beautiful by Dean Ogren.
